Warli Krishna Series 5

Hello friends, last few weeks my parents, sister and her kids visited us in Bangalore. It was almost after a long time they were with us here in Bangalore. My all days went with continuous talk, giggles and fun with them. I could not do much productive than spending a productive time with them :).......These days I am tied up with some new work related task...and working on new contemporary warli assignment. This was a long due idea since Dec2011, which I am currently working on :).
This post is dedicated to my last silk cushion cover warli Krishna series. Without more words I will take you to the pics of it :).


It has got warli Radha-Krishna in the center surrounded by Gopikas serving them with musical instruments and offerings. I have reused the concept of boarder effect from my past post, where warli Gop-Gopikas doing dandiya nritya (dance) on it.
Beads, stones and highlighter are used for decorating purpose.
In the end, all warli Krishna series cushion covers looks like as shown in below

Extention of Tree of Life

Hi Friends, these days, I am totally busy with lil girl Harshi. Enjoying so many mangoes at any time, daily visit to park, sleeping at odd times, eating out ice creams, finishing of 60 pages drawing book within an hour such activities are making me to go back to my summer vacation time :). This makes me jobless for my painting work but joyful with rejoicing my school summer vacations......Hence today I am doing a quick post of my past commission work of cushion cover, Warli Krishna series.
This is extension of my past post Tree of Life. In that post, my warli Krishna was first time introduced on my blog :). I have painted a variety of animals such peacock, cows, birds and horse in this painting. All of them are mused with music of flute played by warli Krishna.
I have used acrylics on silk cushion cover. Beads, stones and 3D-glitters are used for highlighting effect.

Yoggy Yoga@Home

Yea..I just loved the title for this post :)...it hardly took some sec to click the title :)...'Yoggy Yoga@Home'. Name suggests that it has to do something with Yoga and Home. The work which I am going to share here is inspired by my past post The Green Thumb Yoga. It was one of the order of cushion covers by Rakhi from Spinning Wheel about whom I have wrote in my past posts. Rakhi loved the warli boys doing yoga in that post. She wanted me to use the same theme for four cushion covers which will give kinda ethnic, traditional aura to home furniture. However, I was totally unaware of how to put forward one warli theme with four artwork (although it is cushion cover, for me it is an artwork). I just sat with my colors, brushes and chintu (small) painting table and off course without any clue or rough idea about how to show four cushion covers differently but with the same theme. Ultimately things happened in the flow with below end results :). I loved the making of those cushion covers from nowhere to somewhere.

Finally how they look all together :)......

I would like to share my experience on working with different kinda fabric apart from working with canvas or acrylics friendly cottony fabric. As an artist I was always comfortable working with canvas or hard cotton fabric when it comes to acrylics. However, when I was working with the different materials of cushion covers, it was bit different experience, such as just one or two cotes were just not sufficient for them, material was soaking more of color, spreading of color was not accepted. It was altogether a great learning  and fun for me working with the cotton mixed silk, nylon mixed silk fabric with acrylics.

Pair of Peacock

Hello friends :). After enjoying the marriage of my dear brother-in-law, I am back with my blogging activity. Last few weeks were full of shopping, packing, traveling, receiving friends and relatives and last but the most important was enjoying traditional north-Indian food prepared by my mom-in-law :).

This post is inspired by my past post of Mayura.

It was done for one of the order of cushion covers and home decor accessories. I have used warli peacock theme using acrylic colors and stones on silk cushion covers.
So guys, how is it? Did you find the concept of warli peacock on home decor accessories appealing?

Warli Krishna Series4

Last some days, Harshi, my lil one enjoyed reading Ramayana storybook which we got from Oxford house bookshop in last month. I used to read Ramayana for her during bed time for more than a month. Although Ramayana is one of the two great epics of India, reading the same story daily for more than 20 times was too much for me ;). Luckily from last week her divine love for lil Krishna is back in reality. Now a days she is picking up variety of storybook for bedtime other than Ramayana and loves watching Krishna cartoon DVD for sometime :).
As the name of the post suggests, this is related to one more act of my lil warli Krishna. This is painted on cushion cover made up of silk cotton mixed fabric, done for Rakhi's Spinning Wheel about which I have told in my last post.

This is first time, I am introducing Yashoda maiyya (mother of Krishna) in warli style.There are many stories describing Krishna-Leela. One of them is Makhnachor (butter thief) Krishna.

Little words behind Makhanchor Krishna theme 
When Krishna was a child he was very fond of eating butter. So much was the urge that he even used to steal it. One day he was caught red-handed while stealing butter by Yashoda maiyya.
However, I have tried to add more butter to the theme ;) by adding warli Gopika churning butter in big pot, in traditional style. Also Krishna's friend is enjoying eating butter along with him.

I have reused the boarder effect theme as described in one of my post here.

Boarder has Warli Gop, Gopikas, playing Garba dance(traditional folk dance from Gujarat, India) on it.

Stones and 3D glitters are used to give morpankh effect of Krishna and on boarder.

Warli Krishna Series3

As I have mentioned in two of my last posts about the bulk order of cushion covers on which I was working. I have recently finished with it. The last month was totally dedicated to the themes requested by Rakhi for those cushion covers. Few of them had a theme Warli Krishna. Rakhi has got her home decor accessories and furniture shop called Spinning Wheel in Whitefield, Bangalore. Each stuff in her shop has got elegant, ethnic, traditional Indian elegance and unique feature on its own. I will post in detail about it soon :).
Today I am posting one of the cushion cover which I have painted with my lil warli Krishna :)

When I started with it I was totally clue less about how do I showcase my krishna on it?..... But as it progressed, I was totally in love with my ....Jhula jhule Nandlaala....Radhe Sang jhula jhule Nandlaala...:) 
At one side of cushion cover, warli Radha Krishna are celebrating the silence with nature. Where as the  other side has, warli Gopikas celebrating the tarpa dance with sound. It has got deadly combo of celebration with silence and sound :).
I have used stones for Krishna's morpankh and beads for Gopikas tarpa sticks.
I will post some more hand painted cushion covers with different themes soon.

Warli Krishna Series2

Valentine day is quite near.....Love is in the air..:)...So how can I miss my lil Krishna enjoying valentine fever without Radha...I have just tried to paint this Divine Couple with all my heart in warli style.

Now a days, Nickelodeon has stopped showing Little Krishna series on TV.  My daughter, Harshi and off course me, both of us missed Krishna so much that we  have ordered Little Krishna DVD from Flipkart ;). From today morning we have started watching whole series of it. I don't know, how come, but the love for Little Krishna gave me such a high dose of strength today, that I did many multitasking jobs today, watching Krishna DVD, making stuffed capsicum for guests, visiting one of my new friend for collecting her painting orders :).

I am mainly focusing on Radha and Krishna in this painting. I am trying to paint warli Radha here :). Warli boys and girls are doing tarpa dance surrounding Radha Krishna on the music of flute played by Krishna.This divine couple is symbol of love, togetherness, comfort, healing, hence I cannot think of any colour other than Red over here.

I have used acrylic colors, mirror bead and 3D-outlining glitter on off-white fabric.

Boarder Effect on Traditional Warli

Hi friends :), Hope you all had a gr8 last weekend. I too enjoyed the weekend with some guest visiting our home last week. Currently busy in spending time with them. Hence I will put few words here and describe more about some of my past work. I always admire the simplicity and power behind it which Warli has got :). However, as I said creativity and imagination knows No boundaries- No Boarders. The work which I am going to share has major of traditional warli effect in it. However, I have tried to add the contrast boarder colors in it.

It has got traditional farming/ harvesting theme of warli. I wanted to explore the thought such as..."how just few colours at few place with traditional warli will effect". So I tried to put orange/brown contrast boarder in it. On top of it warli boys are running/ dancing tarpa.
I have tried contrast boarder concept with one more traditional warli theme.

In this painting warli girls are doing domestic works. Such scene occurs in warli life in a day when warli boys have gone out for work and warli girl taking care of babies, in-house duties etc. I have tried yellow-orange kinda contrast boarder effect on it. 
As of now, I have met some art lovers, some of them loved just traditional warli more, some of them loved the modern warli more. I hope with such mix of modern and traditional, art lovers from both the class will be satisfied :).
The painting is done on off-white color fabric with acrylic colors on it.

Warli Krishna Series1

Hello all :). Last weekend I visited my friend Francis's shop Colour Mantra to click the framed painting of mine. This was the long pending task in my mind since month, finally I was able to finish it of. As I promised in my one of the last post Tree of Life about coming back of my lil Warli Krishna :). Yes guys, my visit to Colour Mantra was for those clicks.

In this painting, Warli Krishna is sitting under a tree in different posture and playing a flute. A sequence of Warli girls and boys are playing Dandiya/ Dandiya Raas around him. 

About Dandiya- It is the traditional folk dance from Vrindavan, India. It is the featured dance of Navaratri evenings in Western India.

I have used peacock feather acrylic colors, mirror bead and 3D-outlining glitter for Krishna effect. 3D- outlining glitter is also used for warli girls' hairsticks and dandiya stick, to give a rich traditional effect.

The painting is drawn on off-white color fabric. All acrylic colors are used in it.
Dimensions: 30cm H x 35 cm W 

I would also like to share some framing gyan which I got from Francis :).

As shown in above pics, framing should be done with MDF kind of board at the backside. It should be framed such that the board at the back should be visible and appear at the back. We can see a small thickness projection appearing from side of the board. This increases longevity of frame and durability of paintings.

Incy wincy spider....

As I always say...My lil angle Harshi..is the biggest inspiration for the most of my work...two days back Harshi was murmuring about honey bee, ant, spider...(i guess she was taught about insects in school) she keeps on bugging me all 24*7...keeps on asking me so many questions...so she was asking me...what is the difference between..honey bee,..spider, ant...luckily these days Honey bee is the evening visitor in my house..when I put on balcony lights near tulsi plant for evening puja....spider at the corner of my utility since just 1 week back we were out of station..spider has created web over there...black ants keep visiting often due to my white periwinkle flower plant affection they have got...insects apart.....while showing the web of spider...an idea clicked to my mind...I have just tried to put it on written....i.e a warli spider web..

Harshi was very happy looking at this spider web...:)..I am sure spiders she will never forget now onwards...I have used blue acrylic on light greenish blue fabric. I have given a highlighting effect for web boarder using silver color 3D glitter. One can frame this painting using white or blue framing boarder to give a bright look to this painting.

Colorful tarpa sequence

Hi everyone! I wish you all a very happy new year....Thank you all for showing all the love for my earlier start up paintings in last posts.

After a fresh X-mas vacation spent with my dear aai-baba at Mumbai, I have done this painting, as a start of this year. This has Tarpa dance as a theme decorated with women dancing on blue background and men dancing surrounding to it on red background. I love those red and blue contrast color combo. I have decorated boarder with mirror. However one can go framing it with this boarder or just a plane red/ blue boarder framing on top of mirror work (hiding mirror boarder).

Paintings is done on off-white color fabric using acrylic colors.
Dimensions: 26cm H x 22 cm W
