<span style="color: #990000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Hi All,
<span style="color: #990000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Thank you for following as well as liking Warli-Soul π.
<span style="color: #990000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Few days back, I got message from a follower. Thank you for dropping by Warli-Soul. Follower suggested me to talk more about Warli art as the name suggests so. I appreciate the sincerity behind ππ.
<span style="color: #990000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">However, I personally feel, art knows no boundaries. So it is applicable for an artist. Warli is always going to be my first love ππ. Nothing replaces "first love". Here in Warli-Soul, I believe on modernization of warli art which has a base of warli along with colour, concepts, ideas and thoughts of my own π₯°π€©...That would be my own identity...I also believe on quote
<span style="color: #990000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">"Never lose your sense of wonders"...
<span style="color: #990000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">So keep wondering, keep exploring is my theme of art here...
<span style="color: #990000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Sharing Gond art on tiny piece of canvas, today. Due to lockdown, my "me-time" has been reduced. My work from home has also increased these days...(Being a former software engineer, I teach coding, robotics to kids ππ)... Family time has also increased... Overall, I can only afford little piece of art...No art is No Oxygen, with lockdown situation..
<span style="color: #990000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Gond is tribal community majorly found in Madhya Pradesh. An art drawn by them is called as Gond art. Gond art consists of carefully drawn lines, dashes and dots. This increases amount of detailing.
<span style="color: #990000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Many says, when you want to calm your mind go for drawing an art. But my personal experience always says...When you are calmers you can do the best art ever π₯°β€οΈ
<span style="color: #660000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="color: #660000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Few words about Medicine Buddha posture: the right hand of Buddha is held facing downward with fingers extended toward the ground, palm facing outward toward the viewer, a bowl of herbs rests in the left hand upon the lap. The right hand of Buddha in this posture which is facing outward signifies "granting a boon" (blessing) to mankind. The Medicine Buddha is venerated by those seeking health, healing and inner strength. This posture represents the eradication of suffering and illness. The fundamental cause of illness, is the lack of contentment. The need for contentment is indicated by the begging bowl in the Medicine Buddha's left hand.
<span style="color: #660000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="color: #660000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I have used acrylics on wooden tea coaster. This gives the effect of medicinal plants for the medicinal bowl held in his left hand. I have used coats of mod-podge to save my art work.
<span style="color: #660000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Hi Friends,

<span style="color: #660000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">This post is about, challenging my creativity altogether in a different field of art. A week long idea has taken up a shape as shown below.
<span style="color: #660000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="color: #660000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="color: #660000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Yes, it is not a warli this time (smiley~~~) but a Jamini Roy inspired hand painted, hand woven necklace done by me. Before I write so many lines about my handmade project. I would like to dedicate this post to the great art legend Jamini Roy. He was one of the most significant and leading Indian painters of the 20th century. His simplicity and naturalness are reflected through his work. He developed a personal painting style which was inspired largely by traditional Indian folk and village arts. The Santhals, a tribal people who live in the rural districts of Bengal, were an important subject in his paintings.
<span style="color: #660000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="color: #660000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">So simplicity, naturalness and tribal art could be an attraction point for me to make such a miniature piece of art in the form of jewellery :).
<span style="color: #660000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="color: #660000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I have chosen a Mother and Child theme from Jamini Roy's painting for pendant making. Off course, being a mother of two kids, I found such a purity and a sense of fulfillment to choose this topic as a start.

<span style="color: #660000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

Being an Instrumentation Engineer, I always have affinity towards m-seal. Hence I have used white m-seal as a material for pendant making. It has got easy molding, fast drying ability which is useful for making any kind of molds.

I have used acrylics for painting, followed by mod-podge layers to save my hard work in future :). For necklace I have used silk thread. I love the natural, simple but yet royal look of silk threads.

So please write me about your opinions/any suggestions for this tiny piece of art.
<span style="color: #660000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I would like to explain in few words about Protection Buddha here. This depiction of a seated Buddha with the right hand raised and facing outwards has two meanings. The first is the raised right hand symbolically represents a shield. The second meaning, overcoming fear, one who is receiving protection would be fearless. The main features of this pose, aside from the raised right hand, is that the left hand is with palm up in the lap. This posture signifies courage and offers protection from fear, delusion and anger.
<span style="color: #660000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="color: #660000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="color: #660000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">So please write me about your opinions/any suggestions on my modern Warli Buddha in Protection posture. Now some more are going to come in next posts.

Linking it to Paint Party Friday. <span style="color: #660000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Thanks to Eva and Kristen for hosting.
<span style="color: #660000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Hi Friends,
<span style="color: #660000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I am going to start this post with the good news (smiley~~~). One of the art lover and an entrepreneur liked my Warli Buddha in last weeks post. He has given me order for hand painted tea coasters for his art studio cum coffee shop. So soon my Warli Buddha is going to rock on his front desk (smiley~~) and my spiritual knowledge is going to get broaden while working on this art.

<span style="color: #660000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Yesterday night after finishing my routine core, I started working on this assignment and finished with the first tea coaster. Please have a look at the outcome of it.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="color: #660000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">This is Nirvana Buddha posture. Before starting the explanation of Nirvana Buddha, I would like to explain, what these postures are all about. Buddhism has different traditional <span style="color: #660000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">(around 100)<span style="color: #660000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"> <span style="color: #660000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">poses of Buddha, <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">called as asana or an Attitude. Each pose has a significance related to an important event in the the life of Buddha. Each posture will have a specific hand gesture, called as Mudra, associated with the posture.

<span style="color: #660000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">So let us have a spiritual senses awaken, before reading the concept of Nirvana. Nirvana is a transcendent state in which neither suffering, desire, nor sense of self exist, and the subject is released from the effects of karma and the cycle of death and rebirth. It represents the final goal of Buddhism. So Nirvana Buddha depicts the last moments of life of Buddha on earth, prior to the Buddha dying one last time before entering Nirvana. As Buddha has gained enlightenment in his lifetime, so that he was able to escape the endless cycle of birth - death - rebirth and entered Nirvana. In this pose, the Buddha is always depicted lying on the right hand side on top of a resting table. One of the most well-known examples of this statue is enshrined at Wat Pho in Bangkok, Thailand. This is my dear hubby in below pic of Wat Pho.
<span style="color: #660000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="color: #660000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">
<span style="color: #660000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Experience on working with wooden tea coaster was quite new and challenging. It required many coats of paint and gives little patchy look of colors, which I found natural and unique. But I have enjoyed it altogether.

So do write me about your opinion on my modern Warli Buddha in Nirvana posture. Now some more are going to be done by me in next posts.

Linking it to Paint Party Friday. <span style="color: #660000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Thanks to Eva and Kristen for hosting.<span style="color: #660000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="color: #660000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Hello Friends,
<span style="color: #660000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">After a gap of long four years, I am Back to my creative world :)....rather I should say I am going Forward with creative world....
<span style="color: #660000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="color: #660000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">What did I do during those years?....I prepared for arrival of my younger one...my son Rudransh....who is now four years old. His arrival made my mind, home n family complete. However life is not all about goodies. He was born with certain health issue. This challenge made me strong physically (for taking the best possible care, sleepless nights) n emotionally. However, by God's grace, support of our parents, friends and doctors, he has come out of those danger n alarming signs (such as scary ICU stays in hospital) and now doing good. I must say, God has the best offerings n plans for everyone :) n he never neglects anyone when it comes to blessings......
<span style="color: #660000; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

Some time in last days, we visited Oxford bookstore in Bangalore, which is one of the favorite family place for all three of us :). While browsing through the kids section suddenly my eyes went on one book called 'Ugly Duckling'. When I opened it and for few seconds (Harshi's permission for my flashback memories is only few seconds...she will hardly let me be with me for few minutes anywhere :)) I went back to my childhood days.

When I used to get upset with some of friends during playtime or some school stories my aai (mother) used to sing one poem in Marathi called 'Ek vede Rajhans'- a converted story of Ugly Duckling in Marathi. Moral of the story was there used to be a swan staying in the pond of ducks who was unaware of his superior qualities and always used to get upset by a common mob. But in the end he came to know that he is a swan, not one of the common duck :). I bought the book for Harshi. Although it made me read the same story for her during 70 nights ;) afterwards. This gave me swanish idea about making a painting in Madhubani with the pair of beautiful swans :). Love you Harshi, for being always the source of my ideas.
While making of Ugly Duckling, I was painting water lilies and pond trees, which made me to think about making tiny Warli girls and boys :). This is again attached to my another childhood memory and my pappa. He always introduced me to science fiction movies from childhood. One from the list was the famous Walt Disney movie 'Honey, I shrunk the kids'. I Still remember the the smallest inch kids struggling to reach back to their Dad and home. I always got attracted toward this art due to its bright colors used and enlightening effect due to black outline :) and attention given to boarders of objects. My last few weeks were just full with exploring about this art, through some Indian art magazines and internet.

Few words about Madhubani art-

Madhubani or Mithila painting is a style of Indian painting, practiced in the Mithila region of Bihar state, India. Madhubani painting is characterized by line drawings filled in by bright three to five colors and contrasts or patterns.

Traditional Madhubani paintings themes include Ram-Sita, Shiva Parvati and depcitions from daily life, with objects like fish, trees of fruits such as mango and pomegranate and birds like peacock, parrots. Attractive floral motifs act as borders.
Yea..I just loved the title for this post :)...it hardly took some sec to click the title :)...'Yoggy Yoga@Home'. Name suggests that it has to do something with Yoga and Home. The work which I am going to share here is inspired by my past post The Green Thumb Yoga. It was one of the order of cushion covers by Rakhi from Spinning Wheel about whom I have wrote in my past posts. Rakhi loved the warli boys doing yoga in that post. She wanted me to use the same theme for four cushion covers which will give kinda ethnic, traditional aura to home furniture. However, I was totally unaware of how to put forward one warli theme with four artwork (although it is cushion cover, for me it is an artwork). I just sat with my colors, brushes and chintu (small) painting table and off course without any clue or rough idea about how to show four cushion covers differently but with the same theme. Ultimately things happened in the flow with below end results :). I loved the making of those cushion covers from nowhere to somewhere.

I would like to share my experience on working with different kinda fabric apart from working with canvas or acrylics friendly cottony fabric. As an artist I was always comfortable working with canvas or hard cotton fabric when it comes to acrylics. However, when I was working with the different materials of cushion covers, it was bit different experience, such as just one or two cotes were just not sufficient for them, material was soaking more of color, spreading of color was not accepted. It was altogether a great learning and fun for me working with the cotton mixed silk, nylon mixed silk fabric with acrylics.
This is first time, I am introducing Yashoda maiyya (mother of Krishna) in warli style.There are many stories describing Krishna-Leela. One of them is Makhnachor (butter thief) Krishna.

Little words behind Makhanchor Krishna theme
When Krishna was a child he was very fond of eating butter. So much was the urge that he even used to steal it. One day he was caught red-handed while stealing butter by Yashoda maiyya.
However, I have tried to add more butter to the theme ;) by adding warli Gopika churning butter in big pot, in traditional style. Also Krishna's friend is enjoying eating butter along with him.

I have reused the boarder effect theme as described in one of my post here.
As I have mentioned in two of my last posts about the bulk order of cushion covers on which I was working. I have recently finished with it. The last month was totally dedicated to the themes requested by Rakhi for those cushion covers. Few of them had a theme Warli Krishna. Rakhi has got her home decor accessories and furniture shop called Spinning Wheel in Whitefield, Bangalore. Each stuff in her shop has got elegant, ethnic, traditional Indian elegance and unique feature on its own. I will post in detail about it soon :).
Today I am posting one of the cushion cover which I have painted with my lil warli Krishna :)
At one side of cushion cover, warli Radha Krishna are celebrating the silence with nature.

I have made this photoframe as a recycled project in last month with the help of my daughter, Harshi. She was very excited to do it, as it was all going on for her photo :).

For making this frame I got inspired by one of the tutorial given by Sonia :)

I loved it the way it turned out. So I thought of sharing it's making steps briefly over my tiny blog :).

I
have used last year's desktop calendar, green color handmade paper,
mirror beads, 3-D outliner glitter and a gift wrap paper, glue,
cutter/craft knife.

I have used paper piece of calendar which is just before the thick last one cardboard paper of calendar.

I
have arranged photo at center on it and marked its outline. Then I have
cut out the marked area at a slightly smaller size so that the frame
will overlap the photo slightly.

Then
I have marked the slightly greater cut out on green handmade paper as
compared to cut out area. Then applied glue to four sides as shown in
below picture.

For
decorations, I have used left over mirrors from my painting stuff.
Harshi has helped me sticking them surrounding her photo :). Still it
was plain in look, so in order to make it more colorful, I have cut out
red old gift wrap paper and put it as a boarder below the snap. Harshi
has got more affection towards 3-D glitter outliner, she wanted to have
hands-on on it, so holding her hand, I made a boarder below it.
